The history of football in Salamanca took an unexpected turn with the disappearance of the Unión Deportiva Salamanca in 2013, a team with decades of history and a passionate fan base. From its ashes emerged two new clubs that would seek, each in their own way, to keep the flame of football alive in the city: Unionistas de Salamanca and Salamanca UDS.

Unionistas de Salamanca: A club of fans for fans

Unionistas de Salamanca was born from a sense of belonging and unconditional love for football. Founded by a group of fans in 2013, the club was built on the principles of humility, unity and active participation of supporters. From the very beginning, Unionistas was committed to being a club where fans had a voice and a vote, guided by the idea that football belongs to those who love it. With a democratic management philosophy, each member has a role in the club's key decisions. The first shirt, in black and white, evoked the memory of the old UDS, but with its own identity, forged by its new fans.

Salamanca UDS: The legacy of the Sports Union

On the other hand, Salamanca UDS, formally known as Salamanca Club de Fútbol UDS, represents another path in the rebirth of football in the city. Founded in 2013, shortly after the dissolution of the original UDS, the club acquired the federative rights of the UDS and chose to retain the essence and history of the old club. Its objective was clear: to be the spiritual and sporting heir of the Unión Deportiva Salamanca, an attempt to keep intact the tradition and legacy of a club that had competed in the highest categories of Spanish football.

A rivalry reborn and a city divided by passion

Since their creation, both clubs have represented two sides of the same coin: Unionistas as the people's club, born from the love of its fans, and Salamanca UDS as the custodian of the city's footballing legacy. This rivalry, which is played out both on the pitch and in the hearts of the people of Salamanca, reflects a city that has not lost its passion for football.

Unionistas competes in Primera RFEF and has become one of the historic teams in the new category, adding its fourth participation and making great teams with very austere budgets. For its part, Salamanca has managed to ascend to Segunda RFEF after several years in the fifth category of national football always forming great teams but without the prize of promotion.

Both teams have experienced successes and challenges in their short history, rapidly rising through the divisions of Spanish football, while building their own histories and traditions. At their core, both Unionistas and Salamanca UDS share the same goal: to take the name of Salamanca to the top of national football, each in their own way, each with their own vision, but both born from the same passion for football that never stopped beating in the hearts of the people of Salamanca.
